Pricing, Government Fees and Refunds
Published 3 September 2026 · Reviewed by Ashfaq Khattak, US Tax Consultant
Every price on this page separates our service fee from the government fee, because they behave differently: ours is what we charge to prepare and file, the government’s is set by a state or federal agency and is the same whoever files for you. A quote that merges the two is how a $99 formation turns into an unexpected $400 charge. Government fees are collected at cost and appear on your invoice as a separate line.
Service fees start at $99 for a single-state LLC formation. Because state filing fees, expedite options and franchise taxes vary by state and change without notice, we confirm the exact government total in writing before we take payment for it — and we link you to the state’s own fee page so you can check it yourself.
How our pricing is structured
| Charge | Who sets it | Refundable? |
|---|---|---|
| Our service fee | Us. Fixed and quoted before you pay. | Yes, before we file — see below |
| State filing fee | The Secretary of State. Passed through at cost. | No, once the state has taken it |
| State expedite fee | The state. Optional. | No |
| Annual report / franchise tax | The state. Recurring, due whether or not you traded. | No |
| Registered agent renewal | Us, annually after the first year. | Pro-rata if cancelled before the term starts |
| IRS filings (EIN, ITIN, returns) | The IRS charges nothing. Our fee is for preparation and submission. | Yes, before we submit |
The IRS does not charge a fee for an EIN or for an ITIN. If anyone tells you otherwise, that charge is theirs, not the government’s.
What a formation package includes
- Name availability check in your chosen state
- Preparation and filing of the Articles of Organization or Certificate of Formation
- Registered agent service in the formation state for the first year
- EIN application prepared and submitted to the IRS
- An operating agreement you can actually use to open a bank account
- Your BOI report filed with FinCEN where the company is required to report
- Your filed documents delivered digitally in the client portal
What is not included
Said plainly, so it is not a surprise on the invoice:
- Ongoing state fees. Annual reports and franchise taxes recur every year for as long as the company exists.
- Certified copies and apostilles. Charged by the state per document, usually needed for foreign bank or payment-processor onboarding.
- Federal or state tax returns unless you buy them. Formation and tax filing are separate services.
- Bank account approval. We prepare your documents and show you which providers onboard non-residents. The bank decides, not us.
- Legal or investment advice. We are not a law firm and not a CPA firm.
Processing times, and who controls them
Our part of the work takes one to two business days once we have your documents. Everything after that belongs to an agency:
| Step | Typical range | Controlled by |
|---|---|---|
| State approval of the LLC | Same day to three weeks, depending on the state and whether you expedite | Secretary of State |
| EIN for an applicant with no SSN | Several weeks, because it is a fax or mail application rather than the instant online one | IRS |
| ITIN | Several weeks to a few months, longer in filing season | IRS |
| BOI report | Filed immediately, confirmation is instant | FinCEN |
These are ranges we have seen, not promises. We will not quote you a guaranteed government turnaround, because nobody outside the agency can honour one.
Refunds
- Before we file: full refund of our service fee, no questions asked, minus any government fee already paid to an agency.
- After we file: government fees cannot be recovered. Our service fee is refundable only where we made the error.
- If we made a mistake — wrong state, wrong name, a form we prepared incorrectly — we correct it and pay the re-filing fee ourselves.
- If an agency rejects an application for a reason within our control, we re-submit at no charge. If it is rejected because of information you gave us, we will tell you exactly which item caused it and what the re-filing costs.
To request a refund, email [email protected] with your order reference. We respond within two business days.
Why we do not publish one fixed total per state
Because it would be wrong within months. State filing fees change, expedite options come and go, and several states set an annual fee that depends on your asset value rather than a flat figure. We would rather quote you in writing against today’s published fee and link you to the state’s own page than print a number here that quietly rots. Every state page on this site links directly to the agency that sets its fees.
Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to form a US LLC as a non-resident?
Our service fee starts at $99 for a single-state LLC formation. The state filing fee is separate, set by the Secretary of State, passed through at cost and confirmed to you in writing before you pay it. A quote that merges the two is how a $99 formation becomes an unexpected $400 charge.
Does the IRS charge a fee for an EIN or an ITIN?
No. The IRS charges nothing for either. Any fee you pay for an EIN or ITIN is a preparer’s fee, not a government fee, and it should be described that way on your invoice.
Can I get a refund?
Before we file, yes: a full refund of our service fee, minus any government fee already paid to an agency. After we file, government fees cannot be recovered and our fee is refundable only where we made the error. If we made a mistake, we correct it and pay the re-filing fee ourselves.
Why do you not publish one fixed total per state?
Because it would be wrong within months. State filing fees change, expedite options come and go, and several states set an annual fee based on asset value rather than a flat figure. We quote in writing against today’s published fee and link you to the state’s own page.
